1745 Jacobite Commander's Walk



Come join our campaign and accompany the Jacobite Alba Hussar on his walking tour of Perth, Scotland's ancient capital.

Let him regale the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite Commanders’ time in the Fair City of Perth in September 1745.

Walk with the Alba Hussar and relive a week in history that forged the destiny of the new world.

A warm welcome from the Alba Hussar


A warm Highland welcome from the Alba Hussar awaits before the 1745 Jacobite Commander's Walk commences. The tour begins at Scotland's oldest hotel, the famous Salutation Inn, and then moves on to the site of the ancient St John's Kirk, where Bonnie Prince Charlie attended service during his stay in Perth.

The beautiful River Tay is the next destination on our tour. We follow its majestic flow to the North Inch, which is famous for the Battle of the Clans and being the encampment and training area for Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite army.

The King over the Water


The next stop on the Jacobite Commander's Walk is Balhousie Castle, the stunning home of the Black Watch Regimental Museum. The Museum entrance fee is £7.50 and is optional as this is not included in the tour price. A cafe and shop are also on site and no entrance fee is required for either.

As our campaign journeys back to camp we make a stop at the Old Ship Inn, Perth’s oldest tavern, where many a Jacobite sympathiser frequented in 1745. Here we shall raise a glass and make the secret Jacobite toast to the King over the Water before we return to base at the Salutation Hotel.
